It's out! And I know two of the shortlisted authors personally. My Cambridge mate,Judith Lennox, and fellow Transita author (though this is a Little, Brown book), Linda Gillard.
The full line-up is here.
Gosh, what with that and the Romance prize being awarded too, I might be too nervous to eat my lovely lunch. Ah! Got the solution. I'll loosen up with a tot of champagne first. That'll do the trick.

Is that the trick? how could i have not known that!!!
It's a great short list and I can't wait!
It's a wonderful list and I don't envy the judges such a difficult task. I have the Susanna Kearsley book on my TBR pile. I love her books! Like your solution to the problem of nerves, Jan!
You knew it really, Liz. It's just that if you overdo it, the memory goes fuzzy and you forget!
Nicola, I agree. I wouldn't be a judge for anything (well, unless Viggo Mortenson was a fellow judge, obviously)
Just love Judith Lennox and can't wait to read her latest. she makes her writing feel so effortless. I wish she could bottle her talent and send me a pint!

Champagne is very useful, especially if you're not expected to make a speech (no, Kate Winslet, I'm not looking at you...).
How fantastic to be able to say, "Oh yes, I know her!" Not that I'm biased, but I'll probably be rooting for Judith now!
A mere 'tot'??????? Jan, that would be letting the side down!
Many thanks for the help in this question, now I will know.
